Powerful. Flexible. Simple.
The story starts with the introduction of digital radio technologies to the public safety market around 2006. We, Imtradex GmbH, signed in to the TETRA MoU Association and started to build a huge portfolio of headsets for the TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) radios and sold over 10,000 units in the second half of the year.
Due to the fact, that TETRA radios have much more flexible options to be used from the operator, there was a question mark in terms of: How could all of this be addressed and used?
We started to think about a flexible remote speaker microphone for use in critical situations for the public safety market. The flexibility the product needs to provide for the operator is the key factor for a winning product.
When the TETRA market starts to evolve, the demand for addressing the opportunities of more functions, while using accessories, was starting to evolve as well. We decided to start a new product development to challenge exactly the need of the market and introduce a product which helps first responders to communicate more quickly with a bigger functionality than ever before.
The idea of our flexible remote speaker Aurelis was born…
Our Aurelis remote speaker is a powerful and flexible device, which can be used in a wide variety of applications, including:
- Public-safety
- GSM-R
- Command&Control with USB
- Industrial areas with TETRA and DMR and analogue radios
Bike patrols in the Netherlands
After several customer visits, the requirements of the customer were fixed, and we started creating a custom version of our Aurelis for the Dutch police.
The remote speaker had a custom circuit board to provide the highest audio quality for their service. Furthermore, we created two programmable buttons on the front for easy handling of the transmission, especially for high priority calls.
On top of the afore mentioned arguments, the Aurelis has its headset connector on the bottom side of the housing to reduce risk of damage from water. We sold 1200+ Aurelis DAT2 to our partner in the Netherlands.
German fire brigade
In 2014 a big tender for fire brigades in Germany started. We, Imtradex GmbH, through Motorola Solutions GmbH Germany started to participate at this tender.
The specific need was a big robust PTT button on the front, so we started to adapt it to our flexible Aurelis platform created a winning solution for the German fire brigade. We sold more than 10,000 units to Motorola Solutions.
But the idea was not limited to the public safety market, and so other industries started to adapt the product for their communication solutions.
Remote speaker for GSM-R
The requirement from our customer was a PTT-button on the front, including the opportunity for an OEM branding. Furthermore, the Aurelis remote speaker was adapted to the respective GSM-R radio for best audio performance.
For different GSM-R radios we sold more than 5,000 units.
The choice for hazardous areas
Our partner, ecom instruments GmbH (a Pepperl+Fuchs brand), has designed in cooperation with us an intrinsically safe variant for the Aurelis.
The so called Ex-TRA 80* and the Ex-RSM Aurelis BT provides a wired or Bluetooth option for the operator in hazardous areas.
